Dreaming of a white Easter.

I know everyone is on about it.......... IT'S FREEZING.
I have just got back from my plot where i  put the last few rows of spuds in. I also checked in on the few other bits to make sure they are surviving the cold. The peas, broad beans, Garlic and onions seem fine. I imagine them all singing together at night to keep up moral.
I'm home now and after putting my fingers in the toaster for a while to get them moving again I'm going to make a spring like Minestrone from a few bits i brought home that survived the real winter.

Being so ready for summer i feel a bit embarrassed  like turning up to a party really early or like being at the airport 6 hours before you take off. Like mother nature is doing a big 'L' shape on her forehead at me.

never cut a tree down in the winter time.
never make a negative decision in your low time.
wait.
be patient.
the storm will pass.
the spring will come.

Whats your favorite job ?

Someone who was quite respected in my real job asked me that once and i had to think about it. I then told him it was fruit picking when i was young and carefree............... never before have i had to work so hard for so little money in ridiculous heat and 100% humidity, being shouted at for ten hours by a large farmer with a shot gun and lifting huge water melons on to the back of a truck while flys and insects stuck to my sweaty face................. it was the best job ! I LOVED BEING OUTSIDE.

Hesitant

I've been hesitant about becoming a blogger.
(i actually feel nerves now!) always thought it was a bit self-indulgent
That and I'm not much of a writer.
I'm a thinker and a talker not a writer
But growing stuff has changed me, it's taken over my thoughts and dreams! so it needs to come out.
so here it is all 'blogged out' like a satisfying colonic.

Its not all about me.
I'm thirsty to learn so please share/add/correct me along the way.

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I think the love of nature is in me.
I just get it, not in a scientific way but i feel unlike most things i have tried to learn i just understand it.
As a child i was always outside - on compulsory walks (cheers dad), i made umbrellas from giant wild rhubarb, perfume from rose petals, i even took imaginary people on tours around my garden. oh and my mums a Horticulturist.

The other thing about me is that i have always hated the cold, dreaded winter claimed to suffer from S.A.D.......... but this growing malarky has changed that too. I love seasons ! all four of them and the winter being my favorite.
I love the anticipation of winter the preparing,clearing,digging,shifting,burning,turning,sorting.............. beer earning.
so any way its starting here the early spring I've done plenty of the above in my plot and i'm trying my hardest to be patient and wait for the weather to warm a little ( we had four inches of the white stuff on Tuesday)
